My approach to working with you is based on kindness, aligning with your value system, while offering cutting-edge techniques designed to meet your therapeutic needs.
I have a BA degree in psychology and a master’s degree in clinical social work. I am a dually licensed independent mental health practitioner in Wyoming and Nebraska. In my 30+ years’ experience in the field of psychology/social work, I have had many roles: therapist, clinical director, consultant, adjunct professor, workshop leader, board member, supervisor, and trainer. My work settings have included community mental health, private practice, medical facilities, community college, inpatient substance use treatment, preschool and K-5 schools, state and local agencies, not-for-profit, and large corporations. During my career, I have enjoyed working with all ages, the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities, children, couples, and families. I am trained in many of the recommended and trauma-informed modalities of therapy and use a prescriptive blending of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), art/play therapy techniques, and somatic therapy approaches. I also just completed extensive training as a KAP trained psychotherapist (the protocol for ketamine assisted therapy for chronic mental health concerns).
My primary style is down-to-earth, trauma-focused, and centered on what works best for you.
Although I have extensive knowledge in child and family therapy and would be happy to consult with you about child and family matters, my practice is primarily dedicated to adults with anxiety/PTSD/depression stemming from unresolved trauma.
Personally speaking, I really enjoy a good hearty belly laugh with anyone that enjoys laughing. I treasure being a mother first and foremost to my two adult children. Through a love story of adoption my husband and I became parents in 2000. I am blessed in my many roles as friend, sister, aunt, daughter, niece, cousin, and community member. And I am honored to have a lovely human being as my husband for over 36 years.
